In the 2024 Democratic presidential primary, 17.2% of voters in Washtenaw County voted “uncommitted,” the highest share of any Michigan county. Wayne County, which has about three times as many voters, was close behind at 16.8%.
The “uncommitted” campaign urged Democrats to protest President Biden’s handling of the Gaza war by withholding their vote.
Many of the progressives who backed that campaign now support Abdul El-Sayed for Senate, making these counties important to his path to victory in next week’s primary.
