If Democrats in Massachusetts nominate Ed Markey for another U.S. Senate term today, he’s likely to serve until age 86.
But he still won’t be one of the oldest members of Congress next year, with more than a dozen older lawmakers either serving out their terms or running for reelection.
Markey and his colleague Elizabeth Warren, 77, won’t even be part of the oldest state delegation in Congress. Massachusetts sends the third-oldest Senate delegation and 13th-oldest overall delegation to the Capitol.
The oldest delegation comes from Idaho, with an average age of 74, followed by Vermont, whose delegation is just a few months younger.
