Nearly 500,000 Texas Latinos have turned 18 in the last two years and are now eligible to vote, according to the Voto Latino Foundation and the Hispanic Federation.
This week, those groups are launching a get-out-the-vote campaign exclusively targeting Texas’ Rio Grande Valley.
The Valley primarily consists of four counties: Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr, and Willacy. Together, their populations are 93% Hispanic and predominantly working class. All four backed President Trump in the 2024 election.
With polls showing Latino voters drifting back towards the Democrats this year, and with the Valley home to three battleground House races (TX-15, TX-28, TX-34), it will be one of the most important areas to watch on election night.
