At age seven, a Japanese student named Rika Matsuda crashed her bike into a wall.
A man in his 20s, who was a stranger to Matsuda, asked if she was OK, then gave her his phone to call her grandfather.
As they waited, the man showed her how to fold an origami crane and gave her one to take home.
Ten years later, Matsuda recalled the moment during a high school class. She still had the crane, and this time, found an expression written on it.
The message read “We should treasure each time we cross paths with someone because it might never happen again.” In other words, “cherish the moment.”
